VLC media player banned in India
Some reports said that the VLC Mmedia Player was banned in India because the platform was used by China-backed hacking group Cicada for cyber attacks. A few months ago, security experts discovered that Cicada was using the VLC Media Player to deploy a dangerous malware loader. This was part of his cyber attack campaign.
Since it was a soft ban, neither the company nor the Indian government has officially said anything about the ban on this media platform. However, some people on Twitter are tweeting about its ban. A Twitter user tweeted a screenshot of the VLC website. It is written in this screenshot that the website has been banned under the IT X 2000 order of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
At present, the VLC Player website and download links are banned in India. Simply put, no one in India can use this platform for any work. Only people who already have this software on their devices can use it. According to the information received, VLC Player has been banned in all majors such as ACTFibernet, Jio, and Vodafone-idea.
