Xiaomi has launched their new Xiaomi 12, Xiaomi 12X, and Xiaomi 12 Pro in China. The new models offer some enhancements and functions over the company’s older flagships. The flagships are also sporting the updated Xiaomi branding, removing Xiaomi’s ”Mi” logo used on the earlier 11 series. The new model comes with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip and a completely new camera setup, and an upgraded display to show the highlight screen.
Xiaomi 12
The compact and small Xiaomi 12 features a 6.28-inch AMOLED display with FHD+ and has a 120Hz refresh rate. It’s the company’s most compact display for a long time and has modern features, such as the fingerprint scanner under the display and Gorilla Glass Victus.
The phone runs the newly launched Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip that is currently part of a slimmer motherboard design that can still accommodate important components and a cooling pad. It has a battery of 4,500mAh with a 67W fast wired charging of fifty of wireless speed charging and reverse wireless charging of 10W.
The phone is equipped with a brand-new 50MP Sony IMX766 camera with OIS as its primary camera. An ultrawide 13MP sensor and 5MP macro sensors complete the rear camera setup. The front-facing camera comes with a 32MP selfie camera. Other options are UFS 3.1 storage and 5G connectivity, NFC, and WiFi 6E support. The phone also comes with Dolby stereo Atmos speakers to play Hi-Res audio.
Xiaomi 12X
A more affordable and tweaked variant of Xiaomi 12X has a 6.28-inch FHD+ display. The phone has an identical triple rear camera configuration similar to the Xiaomi 12x and the same 4,500mAh battery. The primary difference is the smaller Snapdragon 870 that is in the center. The phone comes with a brand new 50MP Sony IMX766 camera with OIS as the main camera. A 13MP ultrawide sensor and a 5MP macro sensor are part of the rear camera setup and 32-megapixel selfie camera. Other options are UFS 3.1 storage and connectivity to 5G, NFC, and WiFi 6E support. It also has a Dolby Atmos stereo speaker capable of Hi-Res audio.
Xiaomi 12 Pro
The latest Xiaomi 12 Pro is the strongest phone to date. It features a brand new 6.73-inch display with a QHD+ (1,440×3,200 pixels) LTPO AMOLED display with 1,500 Nits of peak brightness and a 120Hz dynamic refresh rate. Additionally, it has 480Hz touchscreen samples and Corning’s Glass Victus to ensure the display is extremely robust and resistant to scratches.
This phone’s Snapdragon 8Gen 1 processor powers this phone, which comes with 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 256GB 3.1 storage. Options for connectivity include 5G, WiFi 6E support, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, and IR blaster.
Xiaomi 12 Pro also features a triple rear camera configuration featuring a primary 50MP Sony IMX707 camera with OIS. It also has a portrait sensor with 5MP and an ultrawide 16MP sensor and a 32MP selfie camera.
The phone comes with a larger battery, 4,600mAh. It now supports fast charging of 120W as well as 50W wireless charging.
Other details
All three phones feature Xiaomi’s MIUI 13, which will shortly be available on the company’s flagship models from earlier. There’s no official launch date in India announced or confirmed so yet. However, it could happen soon, particularly after Xiaomi ceased selling the Mi 11 Ultra in India.
